WWu Bernkastel 50km

Cycle path from Bernkastel for 50 km on relatively car-free paved roads. You will gain a lot of elevation (+800) while cycling. The route is suitable for racing bikes.

You start in Bernkastel at the Moselle riverbank and ride along the cycling path by the Moselle to Mülheim an der Mosel. Here, you exit onto a slightly larger road along fields and further up the vineyards to Veldenz. Most of this stretch can be cycled on a paved strip beside the main road.

In Veldenz, you start a beautiful ascent to a height of 617 meters. You turn right onto L157 and a bit further on the left, you descend into the valley of the Dhron via Heinzerath. You turn left onto a somewhat larger road and quietly ascend over Rapperath to Morbach. Here, you need to briefly follow the federal road 327 to the left and then cycle through the center of Morbach.

After Morbach, you cycle past Bischofsdhron and down a declining road through Hundheim. In Hundheim, you take a smaller road to Hinzerath, passing the ruins of Baldenau Castle.

From Hinzerath, you go over L159 to the roundabout with federal road 327. After that, you cycle downhill past the archaeological park Belginum to Wederath. You also follow a declining road over Isbach, Götzeroth, and Emmeroth to Longkamp.

Finally, you go over federal road 59 back to Bernkastel. Just before the tunnel, you turn right and head into the old town of Bernkastel to the starting point.
