This route leads from Anholt (just across the Dutch border) in the direction of Dinxperlo via the cycle path along the Bocholter Aa (cycle path is followed for 2 kilometres). The border is crossed into the Netherlands and then you cycle through the countryside (winding roads bordered by trees, farms and farmland, forests and sometimes clearly visible enken) of the Achterhoek. The route then crosses the border into Germany. The landscape in Germany looks visibly different from that in the Achterhoek, namely on a larger scale.

In Germany, all main roads are avoided and so you cycle continuously along meadows, fields and through forests, practically without a cycle path on your way. At Dingden you descend the Dingden heights. Then you cycle for miles through the catchment area of the Issel (Oude IJssel). Finally, you will pass the Anholter Schweiz Wildlife Park back in Anholt.

The roads in this area are very quiet and of good quality. This also applies to the many small side roads in Germany.
