Eifelsteig - Stage 6 from Steinfeld Monastery to Blankenheim

The sixth stage of the Eifelsteig is entirely dedicated to the ancient Romans. But before you arrive at the traces of the Romans, you will first come to the Gillesbach, where you can enjoy the west flank of the Königsberg and take one last look at the far-visible towers of the Steinfeld Monastery.

After a leisurely walk through the dense forest, you suddenly find yourself in the valley of the Urft, which you left at the beginning of the previous stage. As a gift for your return, you can take a look at the Grüne Pütz, the source of a water pipeline that supplied the former Cologne with water from the Eifel. Along the Urft, you will then arrive in Nettersheim, where you can catch a glimpse of the Mannenberg caves just before entering the town, before visiting the Eifel Nature Center.

After a substantial break at the Training and Information Center, you continue parallel to the Urft. On the wooden path along the Roman pond, you can relax and shortly afterward embark on a journey through Roman times at the Steinrütsch workshop.

In the valley of the Urft, a walk through the shady forest follows until you stand in front of Blankenheim Castle above the town of the same name and reach the stage destination.
