It is the beauty of the Islek with its whimsical rocks and the deeply incised river valleys that keeps the walker excited. The geology of this turbulent landscape is to blame for this. De Prüm has carved itself deeply for millions of years and in this way produces with its side streams a landscape that is structured in a very faceted way. Panoramic views open from the Mariensäule on the Eichelsberg and from the Trielsberg. The idyllic Wahlbachtal, the picturesque Mühlbachtal and the still untouched Dierbachtal radiate something original. Narrow paths give the walker a sense of adventure. But also Waxweiler itself with its Südeifeldom or the Devonium, where one can get to know the world as it looked 400 million years ago with all the senses, makes this walk an experience.
