Description by the author

The Mittellandkanal (Dutch: Mittellandkanaal) is with its 325.7 km the longest artificial watercourse in Germany. The canal starts as a branch from the Dortmund-Eems canal at Hörstel and then leads to the Elbe along Bramsche, Osnabrück, Minden, Hanover, Braunschweig, Wolfsburg and Magdeburg. Several of these larger cities are connected to the actual canal via side arms that end in a harbor basin. Along the Mittelland Canal a cycle path has been laid out where it is easy to cycle.
