The King's Seat

The King's Seat is the historically most significant sight in Rhens. "Ruprecht of the Palatinate" was once elected as the first king of Germany here in the year 1400. The kings after him took their places on the King's Seat and took the oath of allegiance. After the discovery of the mineral spring in Rhens, the King's Seat was removed from its original place (the current Rhine facilities) in 1929 and rebuilt above the village of Rhens.
