Broichbach Lake Loop

The route starts at the parking lot next to the Erkensmühle, Restaurant Seedorf. Unfortunately, the bridge over the stream is closed, so we cannot walk to the oldest plane tree in Europe. We walk to the right along the lake and continue the path across the gorge and the large lake. Due to the bushes, we don't see every lake, but on the return path on the other side of the lake, we can sometimes see it. We approach Ottenfeld Castle from the back, but walk around it to see the front.

After the castle, we can already see the Anna Chapel on the road and of course we light a candle. Then we have to cross a heavily trafficked and dangerous road to reach a narrow forest path on the other side. We make a loop to the left to get to the wildlife park and playground of Kohlscheid. The stay here is free of charge. After the visit, we want to return under the triple road, but unfortunately, it is closed due to maintenance work, and we have to make another loop to Duffesheide to return to Broichbach and go back on the other side.

On the way back, we pass the bicycle monument, a moment for reflection. On the other side, we passed the village water pump, where cozy neighborhood gatherings often take place. If you want to play a game of chess, you can do so outdoors right in front of the parking lot where we started.
