Snow Mountain 7 Peaks

Characteristic: Tour through the history of war along forests, fields, and a "balcony" with phenomenal views

The summit of Schneeberg is located in Germany and is part of the Bocholtzer plateau. Its name is derived from the limestone ground, which has a strikingly bright (white) color in summer compared to the surrounding hills. At the foot of the mountain lies the Dutch village of Oud-Lemiers, the starting point of the normal route to the summit at 257 m.

Around Schneeberg, one can still find concrete tank obstacles ("dragon's teeth") and bunkers, remnants of the Siegfried Line from World War II. Due to its strategically advantageous position, the Germans could keep a close eye on the area around Vaals and maintain fire. From the southeast, there is a good view of Aachen and the Lousberg from above; to the east, one can see the Wilhelminaberg with the ski slope and in the distance, the smoke plumes from the Eschweiler lignite power plant. To the north, one can see Sittard on clear days.
