Medebach - Circular hike

With a length of 25 km, this circular hike leads through the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht around the old Hanseatic city of Medebach.

The diversity of the Medebach Bucht is explored between extensive field paths and at the edge of vast forests. Many impressive views open up from the path, and sometimes it also goes uphill on narrow forest paths. The former monastery Glindfeld, the St. Laurentius chapel, two shelters, a barbecue area, and a paddling pool are located directly along the way. Two inns invite visitors to stop by. There are three bus stops along the road to shorten the boarding and alighting times.

The marked path partially runs along the old Heidenstraße and the Hanseweg, making it especially appealing as it passes through the European bird sanctuary, where hikers can see rare bird species like shrikes and butcher birds. Of course, the circular route can also be walked in various stages; the following entrances and exits are recommended: chapel in Glindfeld, Hallacker with bus stop, Kuckuckswand with barbecue hut, Faustweg at Nonnenkreuz, Holtischfeld Rote Erde and Middle Mill, both with bus stops.
