Nyborg Castle has been one of the Danish kings' preferred residences. After the Swedish wars in the 1650s, it was expanded into a fortress with defensive systems and large bastions, the remains of which we can still experience today. On the Queen's Bastion, four 18-pound cannons, model 1753, made according to original drawings from the Royal Danish Arsenal Museum, as well as two original 84-pound heavy grenade cannons, system 1834, can be seen.
