The stretch from Ulstrup to Åbro runs closely along the Gudenå River and the area is called Vellev Mose. It is a very peaceful and scenic stretch with wooden bridges through the lowest parts. This allows you to get very close to life in the wetlands - without getting water in your shoes. At the same time, you can really feel that calm has settled over the Gudenå River and see that the river atmosphere has now arrived. This is a stretch that you shouldn't miss. The stretch is a good mix of gravel paths, wooden paths/bridges, and natural trails with grass/soil, where the terrain is high enough that the floods only hit a few times a year. From Åbro towards the railway bridge, it is primarily a trail with short wooden bridges over streams and ditches.
At the old railway bridge, you cross the Gudenå River and now walk on the north side of the river. This stretch up to Langå Camping has also been improved in 2025, so you can walk most of the year now. All the way, you walk quite close to the Gudenå River and can truly feel the river atmosphere here.
The Gudenå Path runs here on the Trækstien. There is a conservation order prohibiting cycling or walking with dogs on this stretch. This also applies to dogs on a leash. However, you can walk with dogs on the path outside Ulstrup town.
In connection with the Gudenå Path project 2025, the stretch from Ulstrup to Åbro has been significantly improved, so the path should now be passable here for most days. Between Åbro and the railway bridge at Langå, the path has not been improved to the same extent, but there is a good alternative route a little further away from the river, which can be used during floods in the river valley.
There is a train station at both the starting and ending points with a direct connection between them. Just like there are accommodation options and facilities for provisioning at both places. However, you cannot do so along the way. The stage is not longer than that it just makes the joy greater when you are through this lovely, nature-filled stretch.
