The Albufera Valencia (l'Albufera) is a very beautiful and popular nature reserve in Valencia. The popular novel 'Canas y barros' (Reeds and Mud, written by Valenciano author Vicente Blasco IbÓ±ez) gives an excellent account of this lovely fishing area and how people used to live.
As well as being famous for the lovely freshwater lagoon and fishing, the area is also where you'll find the rice fields of Valencia. This is the birthplace of paella and in the surrounding restaurants you can sample and enjoy gastronomic feasts of a variety of paella dishes which always include an ample supply of seafood.
