Praza de Santa María,
The cathedral of Lugo was built on the foundations of 2 previous basilicas, starting in the 12th century by Raymond de Monfort and expanded and remodeled over the centuries. As a result, you get quite a mix of architectural styles. The main attractions are the large altarpiece (1531), a depiction of the Last Supper, and the cloister that is accessible from the cathedral. There is also a treasury. A remarkable chapel (that of the Virgin with the Big Eyes) was added at the back, a work by Casas y Nóvoa (see Santiago) that was completed in 1726 and can be considered a success. In the Romanesque northern portal, the tympanum is adorned with an impressive figure of Christ.
