Moron de la Frontera, Sevilla.
Cylindrical carved marble idol. Presents incised decoration, depicting a face with hollow eyes, eyebrows and facial tattoo four lines, which extend in the back. This corresponds to a proper type of Iberian Peninsula, whose common feature is its cylindrical shape. They may be smooth or have a decoration in the form of schematic representation of the human face, like this copy or the no less spectacular Valencina and The Coronil, also in this museum. In these sets are common cylindrical idols called "eyes suns" representation of the eyes like tiny disks long solar rays, which can also be found in the so-called idols plate of the same period or in the symbolic decoration of pottery with the contemporary "culture Los Millares ", located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. Also see them in a thin layer of gold on display in the Hall of Treasures, which was found in a "tholos" monument in the necropolis of Las Canteras (Alcalá de Guadaira). These art forms are related to the scope of the ideological and spiritual, but we can not determine much about its functionality.
