The castle of Prades was located at the northwestern edge of the town of Prades. Currently, very little remains. It was abandoned and became divided among various houses, which now complicates its interpretation. The best-preserved element of the castle complex has been the chapel or church of Sant Miquel of the castle of Prades, which has recently been restored. Prades is in the center of the mountains of the same name, on a plateau at the border with La Conca de Barberà, L'Alt Camp, and El Priorat.
