The order of Castelló d'Empúries was an Empordà order for the Temple. It was based northeast of the town of Castellón, in a place called Puig de la Cavalleria.
The two houses of the Temple de l'Empordà, Castelló d'Empúries and Aiguaviva were small and poor, and are little known. Miret attributes this ignorance to the fact that his documents, when the Temple became extinct, did not pass into the archives of the Order of St. John; on the other hand, Forey believes that they are little known because, despite their little importance, they attained the status of orders for the territorial policy of the Temple.
