A community of monks of Sant Benet built their monastery there at the end of the ninth century. A century later, donations allowed the abbey to build a majestic temple with three naves, following the tradition of classical basilicas, which was consecrated in 983.
It is located north of the village of Guardiola de Berguedà, in the Brocà valley, in a privileged natural environment, on a plateau on the east slope of the Sierra de Gisclareny.
It is accessed by the cemetery path or Pujada de Sant Llorenç.
