The fire and the force of the earth, without limits, crying out our past, our roots, our most primitive being... There is no clearer symbol of Bergueda's identity than its festivals and traditions. The first of these is the Patum, declared Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005. A symbol par excellence of Bergueda's identity, the Patum is a festival that has its origins in the row of "hors d'oeuvres" that accompanied the Corpus Christi procession in the fourteenth century and that would encompass elements that have existed since time immemorial. The "plens", "gegants", "turcs" and "trestles", the "àliga"... Everyone has their prominent role in the party.
