Castle and Platja d'Aro (Platja Gran D'aro)

Castell and Platja d'Aro (officially Castell-Platja d'Aro, also known as the Vall d'Aro) is a municipality in the Baix Empordà region, with its capital in Platja d'Aro. The official name comes from the grouping of the former terms of Castell d'Aro and Platja d'Aro and extends over the eastern part of the Vall d'Aro. Castell-Platja d'Aro is a Catalan municipality located in the northeast of the Catalan Countries, to the south of the Baix Empordà and more specifically in the heart of the Costa Brava. It is part, along with Santa Cristina d'Aro, of the sub-region known as Vall d'Aro. Three main population centers: Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro, and s'Agaró, as well as several developments, form the urban fabric of this Baix Empordà municipality with 10,445 inhabitants.

The Gran Platja d’Aro is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Costa Brava. It is, as its name suggests, a large beach, nearly two kilometers long, that has been awarded the Q for Quality, Blue Flag, and commitment to Tourist Quality on several occasions. Platja d'Aro has transformed from a small fishing village to one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Its beach is an urban beach, lined with a lively promenade featuring all kinds of hotel and dining services.
