We are faced with one of the doors of Muslim Málaga. This door was named thus because in front of it the keys to the city were handed over. It was in this place where the Catholic Monarchs received the captives. In the liberation of the slaves, a notable event occurred, which was narrated by Jerónimo Münzer: “Among the other captives appeared an old man with long beards, who claimed to have been captive for forty-eight years. To him the queen said: What would you have thought if in the first year of your captivity you had been told: your redeemer has not yet been born? To which he replied, distressed: I would have died of sorrow.” This event is depicted in the painting by José Moreno Carbonero, which is housed in the Museum of Málaga.
