The Church of the Sacrarium was established thanks to the bull of February 12, 1488. Initially, it was built on a corner of the orange tree courtyard, but in the 18th century, the building was demolished as it was in bad condition, to construct a new one incorporating the façade made for the Cathedral. This façade began construction in 1514 and was to be built in the official style of the Catholic Church of that time, namely, in Elizabethan Gothic style. The exact author is not known, but it is believed to be either Pedro López, master of the Cathedral of Jaén, or Bishop Fuente del Sauce. It was initiated by Bishop Diego Ramírez de Villaescusa de Haro and completed by Bishop César Riario, whose coat of arms and seal are found on the façade.
