San Román de Sau is a population entity of the Spanish municipality of Vilanova de Sau, in the province of Barcelona.
Its origins place the population of Sau in 917. The parish church was built in the 11th century. The current settlement was formed when the Sau reservoir was built in 1963, which would cover the old village. Although it has been practically abandoned since 1860, when it was reported that the parish was uninhabited, it had a few farmhouses, a Romanesque bridge, and a parish church that reappears during dry seasons.
