The beach of Santiago de Deva is located on the right bank of the estuary of the Deva River and is part of the town of the same name belonging to the province of Guipúzcoa, Basque Country. It is separated from the estuary of the Deva River by an artificial breakwater made of rocks. Its sand is dark in color, originating from the slate rocks of the surrounding mountains, a characteristic it shares with its neighboring beach of Hondar Beltz, which is located on the other bank of the estuary and belongs to Motrico, whose name means black sand in Spanish.
