The medieval wall of Oviedo is the fortification that protected the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain.
At the beginning of his reign, King Alfonso II the Chaste of Asturias moved the capital of the kingdom to the city of Oviedo, where he began an extensive construction program, providing the city with churches, monasteries, palaces and a defensive wall that surrounded the entire complex, including the Monastery of San Vicente, founded in the time of his father, King Fruela I. and that was the origin of the city.
