The Castle of Palau Sabardera is a historical monument of the municipality of Palau Sabardera in the Catalan region of Alt Empordà in the province of Girona declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
It is located in the old town of the town bounded by the Plaza Mayor and Puigmal Street. It was built during the fifteenth century by the Vilamarí family, replacing an older castle. Currently part of the walled enclosure and the angular towers are preserved, two of cylindrical plant and one of square plant, called "Tower of the Hours". It has a blocked structure and was used as a prison and as a watchtower. On one side is the coat of arms of the Vilarig, lords of the castle during the sixteenth century.[1]
