The castle of Castellnovo in the Valencian Community, Spain, is located on the hill of San Cristóbal. Its origin is attributed to the Romans, then in the twelfth century it was the Muslims who gave it the shape of the Islamic fortifications, until in 1228 the armies of James I conquered it. In 1233 it was given to Berenguer de Entenza, who was the owner until 1291; it was then in the fourteenth century when it was sold to Guillem D'Esplugues. He proceeds to reform it by erecting the current building. Around the 15th century it passed into the hands of Beatriz de Borja, it is believed that it was around that time between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century when it underwent another remodelling topping the domes and machicolations of the Renaissance type.
