The Torre del Infantado is a fortification located in the Cantabrian town of Potes, at the foot of the Picos de Europa.
Founded by the Lama family, it was built in the 14th century. It belonged to Tello, Lord of Liébana, brother of King Henry II, and son of Alfonso XI. From the sixteenth century, and after a series of clashes over the possession of the lordship, it was the ancestral home of Íñigo López de Mendoza, Marquis of Santillana, and his descendants, the ducal house of the Infantado. It would finally be in the hands of the Dukes of Osuna, who sold it in 1868.
