Cap de Creus Natural Park

The Cap de Creus Natural Park was the first marine-terrestrial park in Catalonia and protects a large part of the Cap de Creus peninsula. It has an approximate land area of 10,780ha (including 3,276ha of Natural Interest Protected Area and 900ha of natural reserves) and an approximate marine area of 3,064ha (including 835ha of natural reserves). It is located in the Alt Empordà region, in the municipalities of Cadaqués, Llançà, Palau-saverdera, Pau, Port de la Selva, Roses, Selva de Mar and Vilajuïga. Made up of the Rodes or Verdera mountains, between Roses and Llançà, it features a coastline with a peculiar morphology dominated by cliffs, due to erosion caused by the tramuntana wind and the sea. Most of the area is covered by scrub and dry meadows, which contrasts with the bare landscape of vegetation near the coastal strip.
