El Parque Natural del Cap de Creus fue el primer parque marítimo-terrestre de Cataluña y protege gran parte de la península del cabo de Creus. Tiene una superficie terrestre aproximada de 10.780ha (incluye 3.276ha de PNIN y 900ha de reservas naturales) y una superficie marina aproximada de 3.064ha (incluye 835ha de reservas naturales). Está situado en la comarca del Alt Empordà, en los municipios de Cadaqués, Llançà, Palau-saverdera, Pau, el Port de la Selva, Rosas, la Selva de Mar y Vilajuïga. Constituida por la sierra de Rodes o de Verdera, entre Rosas y Llançà, presenta una franja litoral de morfología peculiar dominada por acantilados, debido a la erosión provocada por la tramontana y el mar. La mayor parte de la superficie se encuentra cubierta por matorrales y prados secos, hecho que contrasta con la desnudez del paisaje vegetal cercano a la franja costera.
