Flaviobriga was a Roman colony founded in the year 74 at the time of the Roman Emperor Vespasian on a pre-existing indigenous nucleus, the Portus Amanum.
Given the different descriptions of the Cantabrian coast made by Roman historians, there are differences of opinion as to the people on whose territory this coastal city was located: Vardules or Autrigons.
