The Guadalentín, also known as Sangonera in its final stretch, is a river in the southeast of Spain that runs through the Region of Murcia, flowing through the valley of the same name. It is the largest tributary of the Segura River on its right bank.
It begins with this name at the Puentes Dam, where the rivers Corneros and the Luchena and Turrilla rivers, which drain the mountainous areas of the municipality of Lorca, converge. From there, it heads southeast passing through the city of Lorca, from where it flows through the wide Guadalentín valley, a tectonic alluvial depression also called the Murcian pre-coastal depression, changing direction towards the northeast.
