The castle of La Codosera or the castle of Beltraneja is a fortress located in the municipality of La Codosera, to the south of this town, in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura.
It is situated on a hill, on the so-called "Old Road" that goes from La Codosera to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows of Chandavila. From the ancient fortification, only some remains are left that are part of a house whose walls are topped with battlements to give it the external appearance of a castle. It can be easily identified from a distance by a large statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that was erected in 1957 on the remains of one of the towers of the fortification.[2]
