The Flix reservoir is a Spanish hydroelectric infrastructure built on the Ebro River, created by a dam in the municipality of Flix, and extending over the territories of Flix and Ribarroja de Ebro, in the region of Ribera de Ebro, province of Tarragona, Catalonia.
It has a large degraded area on its southern shoreline. It is a contaminated swamp due to chemical discharges produced by the company ERCROS during the period from September 15, 1988, to August 28, 1993, and also during years prior to any environmental legislation. All of this has caused the accumulation of 700,000 m³[1] of hazardous waste on the shore and the sediments of the reservoir.
