The Palace of the Cuevas Velasco is located in the town of Espinosa de los Monteros, province of Burgos, community of Castilla and León.
The construction of the palace, attributed to Juan Gómez de Mora, dates back to 1623, at the initiative of Don Pedro de Velasco y Bracamonte, chief steward of King Philip IV, to whom the king entrusted the education and custody of his illegitimate son Don Juan José de Austria, whom Don Pedro served as a tutor, and who was to reside in this palace for some years of his life.
