The secret of both Montsant and Priorat are the 50 to 100 year old vines of grenache and carignan, two grapes that are also found in the south of France, but are originally Spanish (garnacha and cariñena). The warm climate always brings those grapes to optimum ripeness, while the wind that you constantly feel at this altitude ensures cooling. As a result, the wines combine power and alcohol with finesse and elegance. And just as Carles Pastrana was a pioneer of Priorat, the brothers Josep and Joan d'Anguera are the pioneers of Montsant. Their family domain has existed since 1830.
