The Virgen de la Salud University General Hospital of Elda is located at Carretera d'Elda a Saix s/n., situated on the slopes of the Torreta mountain range. It serves the regions of Vinalopó Mitjà, Alt Vinalopó, and Foia de Castalla.
It is one of the regional hospitals promoted by Insalud before the Health Law was approved. Its construction began around 1977. It was inaugurated by the then Minister of Health, Ernest Lluch Martín.
