Carrascosa de Tajo is a small Spanish locality integrated as a neighborhood within the municipality of Cifuentes, and located in the region of La Alcarria, in the province of Guadalajara, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. Carrascosa de Tajo was inhabited by Celtiberians, Romans, Visigoths, and Muslims. The current town was founded in the 12th century, named Carrascosa de Óvila, as in 1216, Alfonso VIII granted it as a lordship to the monks of the nearby Monastery of Santa María de Óvila. It was later renamed Carrascosa del Río and in 1582, Carrascosa de Tajo, which is its current name.
