This church is located in the popular and beautiful neighborhood of Padre Jesús. It was built in the 16th century.
According to tradition, the first Christian church of Ronda was built here before the Muslim rule . It is very likely that with the increase in population a new church was built, or that the old hermitage, if any, was expanded.
It is a church with Renaissance influences, whose facade is Gothic.
Initially dedicated to Santa Cecilia , it became one of the busiest parishes in Ronda. However, when the Puente Nuevo was built, people moved to the upper part of the market because it was flatter and more comfortable, and the old parish of Santa Cecilia was abandoned and left in a near-derelict state.
In this church is one of the most venerated statues of Ronda, carried in procession on Maundy Thursday : the Father Jesus of Nazareth .
This is where people like Vicente Espinel were baptized.
