Castillo de Olvera - Andalusia

The castle of Olvera, built at the end of the 12th century, was part of the defense system of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada.

In 1327 it was taken by Christian troops, after which it became a bastion of the crown of Castile. Its strategic position, 623 meters above sea level, allowed it to look out over the boundary line of castles that separated Muslim and Christian Spain.

The castle has an irregular plan, an elongated triangle, with the entrance gate t on the south side, reached by narrow, steep steps, and defended by a crenellated fortress gate.

The fortress also consists of a Torre del Homenaje , a wall with a walkway , two towers , an underground fence and a well in the north tower.
Inside, there are two rooms, one on each floor, under barrel vaults, the second of which is accessed by an exterior stone staircase.
