The Baroque -style fountain was built in 1803 by Remigio del Mármol, after undergoing several renovations since the 16th century. It is fed by the water flowing from a well.
It is located next to the 16th century "Fuente de la Salud" in the center of town. The fountain consists of 139 jets , many with stone masks and ghostly faces. They are three ponds that are on different levels and have an elongated shape, equipped with seats .
In the first basin is a statue of a fighting lion and a snake, a work attributed to the neoclassical sculptor José Álvarez Cubero. The second basin , by Remigio del Mármol, features the image of Neptune and Amphitrite riding out of the water in a horse-drawn carriage. The water falls from the second to the third basin via a cascade, and comes out again via the Clero mask .
