As the name suggests, this is the original city center of present-day Priego.
In 1972 it was declared a historical-artistic monument.
It is clearly medieval and Islamic inspired and is a brother of the most typical Andalusian neighborhoods, such as the Albaicín in Granada or the Jewish quarter in Cordoba.
The streets are winding, white and narrow and form a perfect combination of harmony and beauty, flowers , peace and quiet, lime and stone.
