Tower of San Rafael - Iznájar - Andalusia

The Tower of Sant Rafael is one of the remaining towers of the old perimeter wall and is crowned by a statue of Sant Rafael .

Tradition has it that when the soldiers marched and had to cross the Strait of Gibraltar, a candle was lit to protect them.

In this tower we find a cave house that serves as the seat of one of the oldest Easter brotherhoods in Iznajeña, the Brotherhood of Apostles.

This tower is one of the six towers of the first city wall , the remains of which can still be seen today. On the south wall of the perimeter wall is the first square tower, built of masonry and axes at the corners. On the same wall is the bell tower , also square and bricked up. The third tower , also on the south wall, is around the entrance gate. Another tower called San Rafael is located to the east and has characteristics similar to the previous one. The fifth tower is on the north wall of the perimeter wall and has a cylindrical pillar at the north-west corner. The sixth tower is on the north wall of the perimeter wall, near the Church of Santiago.
