Julio Burell y Cuéllar (1 February 1859 in Iznájar – 21 February 1919 in Madrid) was a Spanish journalist and politician , Minister of Public Education and Fine Arts and Minister of the Interior during the reign of Alfonso XIII.
He was born on February 1, 1859 in Iznájar . A Liberal Party activist, he began his parliamentary career as MP for A Coruña in the 1886 elections. In 1896 he became MP for Pontevedra and again in 1903 for A Coruña. From then until 1918 he received a seat for the province of Jaén. Between December 6, 1900 and March 13, 1901 he was civil governor of the province of Toledo.
As a journalist he worked for El Progreso and El Heraldo and in 1904 he founded El Gráfico, Spain's first newspaper illustrated with photographs .
