The current design of the Paseo de Colombia as a public park was made in 1898 by Ramón Linares.
The location of the promenade at the edge of one of the ends of the Adarve dictated the distribution of the spaces, defined by two wide side corridors that allow contemplation of the landscape, over which semicircular filigree lanterns protrude. The lavishly designed central area presents a series of fountains of various shapes and periods, giving an idea of the reforms that were carried out.
In the latter, a pergola was erected in honor of the famous people of Priegu, in front of which is placed a bronze reproduction of Ganymede by Álvarez Cubero .
From its construction it was given the name Passeig de l'Adarve, until it was renamed Passeig de Colombia in 1923 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Caballero y Góngora, Archbishop and Viceroy of New Granada, although it is popularly also known as Paseo de Colombia known. Paseo de les Roses is mentioned.
The promenade is Priego's most complex garden, the boundaries of which are marked by large banana trees that provide shade and coolness. Among the remaining trees there are fine specimens of horse chestnut, linden, acacia, cedar and maple. There are specimens that embellish flower beds such as mimosa, pyracantha, lilac and euonymus, but the rose bush stands out and gives this area its popular name.
