This church has its origins in the 15th-century hermitage of Sant Nicasio , built over an ancient mosque after the Christian reconquest.
In the middle of the 18th century it was fundamentally reformed by Juan de Dios Santaella : the previous chapel was demolished and a new, larger building was erected based on Baroque models.
It has a nave with a half-orange dome.
The external facade is the work of the 18th century . Notable for the richness of its polychrome marble , the facade is divided into two floors, the first with Corinthian columns and the second with Solomon columns that frame the niche of the Virgin .
The chapel of Jesús Nazareno , built in 1731, has a hexagonal plan and is decorated with golden stucco; The chapel houses a high-quality sculpture of Jesús Nazareno, made by Pablo de Rojas. The ensemble is completed by the Chapel of the Venerable Third Order and the Chapel of Jesus of the Pillar. The image of Our Lady of Aurora dates from 1706.
