The Palau de Congressos was built from the structures of the Real Fábrica de Tabacos de Cádiz , originally built by Felipe V on the same site as the city's old warehouse. In 1883 the three-storey building with an independent, irregular plan was built on this structure .
The result is a spectacular brick building, covered with glazed ceramics and with some details reminiscent on the one hand of English factories and on the other of traditionalism, perfectly fitting the style of the 19th century city. Inside there are some interesting iron structures , such as those in the courtyard and a large iron and glass roof.
Located in the historic center, close to the train station, the Port of Cadiz and the business district, the Palau de Congressos de Cadiz has been transformed into one of the most representative buildings in the city. The building has an area of almost 7,500 square meters spread over three floors and its various spaces are used for all types of events, meetings, congresses, exhibitions, etc.
