Description

The popular Plaça del Carme Abela is located near the market and, like other squares in this area, was created due to the need to move the population to the higher areas of the municipality.
It is known that it used to be called Plaça de Alarcón .
It has undergone many reforms throughout its history, so the original buildings have completely disappeared , leaving only a beautiful Modernist style house attributed to Don José Gutiérrez . It was built in 1905 ( it is on the corner of the square with Carrer de las Tintos ) and the monumental lamppost that we find in the middle of the square we recognize as a peculiarity of this square.

There is also a notable fountain in the square.
