The Porta de l'Arroyo or Arc de l'Arroyo is part of the city walls of Jerez de la Frontera. It is one of the shutters that were opened centuries after the city walls were built.
Also known as Puerta Nueva, the gate was built in 1500 and later remodeled in 1588 and 1763. After the Puerta de la Rota was demolished in 1787, the Puerta de l'Arroyo replaced it in importance and number of people.
It owes its name to the fact that a dirty and unsanitary stream flowed through the wall near the nearby square . During the 1588 expansions, this stream was completely buried.
