The memorial to Primo de Rivera consists of an equestrian statue of Miguel Primo de Rivera crowning a sculptural set in a fountain.
The erection of a monument to the newly deposed dictator (a few months after the 1923 coup d'etat) was proposed in December 1923 by Jerez de la Frontera councilor Antonio Montilla Rivero and the proposal was unanimously approved
On the front of the pedestal is a Spanish coat of arms and an inscription that reads: "To the illustrious citizen of Jerez, restorer of order, Miguel Primo de Rivera y Orbaneja, peacemaker of Morocco and Marquis of Estella. The grateful homeland".
The relief on the right flank with the inscription "Study of the definitive plan of advance" represents a meeting of generals around Primo de Rivera , attended by Sanjurjo, Despujols, Fernández Pérez, Saro and Admiral Guerra.
On the left flank of the base there is a sculptural group of five Moors working the land with two oxen, with the inscription "The Point of Victory".
The monument was inaugurated on September 29, 1929 in the presence of the dictator.
