This humble cross was called Calvary. At the end of the 15th century work began on the construction of a small Renaissance-style chapel , which was to precede the current chapel.
Like the Chapel of the Yedra and the Chapel of the Angusties, the Cross has its origins in a Humiliation Cross that was located outside the city walls, between the provincial road and the Porta de Santiago .
